We offer a comprehensive choice of asbestos testing services.
Asbestos Register (Victorian Division 5 Audit)
An asbestos register is a non-intrusive asbestos test and risk assessment provided by Envirofree
Division 5 Audits are important to ensure there is a current asbestos register available for any site workers and contractors performing works on your building/site.
Therefore, this type of inspection will involve an Envirofree consultant attending the site. During the inspection the consultant will take photos, provide an assessment on the condition of any asbestos containing material (ACM), and give advice on the risk of the asbestos found. All samples collected are sent to a NATA accredited laboratory for confirmation on the presence or absence of asbestos. A report is then compiled for the home owner to keep on record, and the risk assessment can be used to keep the area safe.
Envirofree recommends an Asbestos inspection before any alterations of renovations at your property. This inspection ensures the health and safety of all occupants, the public, and any builders or contractors at the site performing work. The register can also be used when providing information to insurance agencies if they request information regarding any asbestos in your building/house for insurance purposes.
Asbestos registers must be readily available upon request and reviewed every 5 years.
Hazardous Material (Victorian Division 6 Audit)
Hazardous materials audits are performed to ensure that asbestos and other hazardous materials are identified prior to renovation/demolition works.
This type of audit will determine the presence of:
- Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs)
- Synthetic Mineral Fibres (SMF)
- Lead paint
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
Each of these are analysed at a NATA accredited lab and then compiled into a report that can be used as a reference during the demolition process.
Asbestos clearance inspections are conducted following the removal or remediation of asbestos materials. Inspections must be undertaken when removing more than 10m2 of non-friable (ACM) Asbestos Containing Material.
Envirofree Consultants will conduct a visual inspection of the designated removal area and determine the area is free of (ACM). If required the consultant may ask the removalists to conduct further removal or cleaning of the designated area before the company can be issued a clearance certificate.
All Envirofree clearance certificates are delivered back to the client the day of the inspection.

Asbestos Fibre Air Monitoring
Asbestos air monitoring is undertaken to test for respirable asbestos fibres in the air. Envirofree can offer this service to assist in assessing exposure, and the effectiveness of control measures of any airborne asbestos fibres.
Monitoring is generally undertaken where asbestos containing products are in a poor condition (i.e. Cracked or exposed), potentially releasing asbestos fibres into the air, or where asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) are being removed.
During asbestos air monitoring, only respirable asbestos fibres (those fibres less than 3 μm wide, more than 5 μm long and with a length to width ratio of more than 3 to 1) are considered to be a risk.
Envirofree will provide the client with a report and run sheet for all air monitoring work after analysis has occurred through a NATA accredited laboratory of filter membranes.
Asbestos in Soil
At Envirofree, we offer professional soil contamination testing services for Melbourne and regional Victoria. The purpose of soil contamination testing is to identify the presence of contaminants that may present a risk to human health or the environment. We use the latest equipment and techniques to deliver accurate and detailed analysis for a wide variety of client sectors. Envirofree strives to provide cost effective solutions for soil analysis and all prescribed industrial wastes (PIWs).
Soil contamination testing is important as contaminated soil can pose a variety of health hazards. Identification of these hazard and management is essential as soon as possible. Another reason why testing is important is to reduce the costs of soil disposal. Contaminant analysis is required to determine the appropriate hazard category prior to being accepted by landfill.
Envirofree consultants conduct tests and collect data to classify your waste to the lowest justifiable disposal category. The lower the category, the less you have to pay for soil disposal. Soil testing may be required for offsite soil disposal, due diligence before purchasing or selling a property, council town planning and rezoning applications and for relevant EPA compliance.
Envirofree consultants can attend your site and take samples which can then be analytically tested, we are able to provide NATA accredited results and reports in respect to a variety of targeted tests. Subsequent reports and analytics can be passed on to landfill operators ensuring it meets the criteria set out in their licence.
