We offer a range of asbestos testing for your building.
Asbestos is a popular additive to many products and structures in buildings. Unfortunately, it’s also highly toxic. When breathed in or swallowed, asbestos can result in serious illness. Absestos testing can show if your site poses a health risk to workers and inhabitants.
At Envirofree, we offer a comprehensive choice of services for asbestos testing:
- Victorian Division 5 Audit
- Victorian Division 6 Audit
- Asbestos Clearance Inspection
- 24/7 Asbestos Sampling
- Asbestos Fibre Air Monitoring
- Asbestos Soil Sampling
Let’s look at some of them below.
Asbestos Register (Victorian Division 5 Audit)
Envirofree can provide an Asbestos Register (Division 5 Audit), a non-intrusive test and risk assessment for asbestos. A Division 5 Audit ensures that an up-to-date Asbestos Register is available for all workers and contractors on a site.
For this inspection, an Envirofree consultant would attend the site. Firstly, the consultant would take photos and assess the condition of any asbestos containing materials. Then, the consultant would give advice on the risk of the asbestos found. After this, the collected samples are sent to a NATA accredited laboratory for absestos testing. Finally, we compile a report for the home owner or site manager to keep on record. This report can be used to keep the area safe in the future.
Envirofree recommends an asbestos inspection before any renovations or alterations take place on your property. An Absestos Register is also useful for insurance agencies if they request information about asbestos in your building or house.
Once an Asbestos Register is completed, it must be readily available upon request and reviewed every 5 years. The record ensures the health and safety of anyone on your property.
Hazardous Material (Victorian Division 6 Audit)
Hazardous Material (Division 6) Audits ensure that asbestos and other hazardous materials are identified before works are done on a building.
A Division 6 Audit tests for:
- Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs)
- Synthetic Mineral Fibres (SMF)
- Lead paint
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
For a Division 6 Audit, an Envirofree consultant samples the materials on the site before we send them to a NATA accredited lab. After the lab analyses the materials, we compile the results into a report.
You could use the results of a Division 6 Audit as a reference during demolition or renovation works on your site.
Asbestos clearance inspections check whether a building or site is safe for normal use after asbestos removal work. These inspections must occur when removing more than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos containing material (ACM).
For this service, Envirofree consultants would visually inspect an area to determine the area is free of ACM. The consultant may ask the removalists to conduct further removal or cleaning of the designated area, so that the site could meet the criteria for an absestos clearance certificate.
At Envirofree, we deliver clearance certificates to the client on the same day of the inspection.
24/7 Asbestos Sampling
Working on any building pre-2004?
Have you come across possible asbestos containing material?
Are you 100% sure it’s not asbestos?
At Envirofree, our asbestos 24/7 emergency response team can be on site within the hour and have your results sampled and identified within 48 hours.
Our team will look for asbestos containing materials such as:
- Fibro Cement Sheets
- Vinyl Floor Tiles
- Telstra Pit
- Water Piping
- Electrical Meter Box
- Asbestos Roof
- Pipe Lagging
- Break Pads
For our 24/7 absestos sampling, our Envirofree Licensed Asbestos Assessor will attend your site and safely collect two samples from the designated areas. Afterwards, these samples will be identified by a NATA accredited laboratory. Finally, we produce a report of your results, for you to make a quick decision on an asbestos problem.
Asbestos Fibre Air Monitoring
Envirofree offers tests for airborne asbestos fibres.
We offer this service in two ways: 1) to assess asbestos in the air and 2) to test the effectiveness of absestos removal measures. Air monitoring can test asbestos containing products that are in a poor condition (i.e. cracked or exposed), as they can release asbestos fibres into the air. Since absestos can still stay airborne after asbestos removals, we recommend air monitoring even after you take measures to control asbestos.
We also provide the client with an air quality report, which includes analysis from a NATA accredited laboratory.
Asbestos in Soil
At Envirofree, we also offer professional soil testing services for Melbourne and regional Victoria. Soil that is contaminated with asbestos poses a variety of health hazards. Soil testing identifies absestos that may be a risk to human health or the environment. It may be required for offsite soil disposal, due diligence before purchasing or selling a property, council town planning and rezoning applications and for relevant EPA compliance.
We use the latest equipment and techniques to deliver accurate and detailed analysis for a wide variety of client sectors. Envirofree strives to provide cost effective solutions for soil analysis and all prescribed industrial wastes (PIWs). We test and collects data during soil testing to classify your waste to into a disposal category. The lower the category, the less you have to pay for soil disposal.
After testing, we provide NATA accredited results and reports that you can pass on to waste disposal workers.
At Envirofree, we provide a range of asbestos testing services for the Melbourne and regional Victoria areas. All these services involve quality reports to ensure the safety of your site.
